The song "Try" by Colbie Caillat really shows the greatness of individuality. In her song she says,"You don't have to try so hard you don't have to bend until you break you just have to get up, get up, get up, get up you don't have to change a single thing." She describes not being yourself as breaking. She feels as though people who are not being themselves are always bending and trying to conform to other people. She believes that people don't have to try to impress other people. She also says,"Take your make up off let your hair down take a breath look into the mirror, at yourself don't you like you?" I think the message she is trying to portray is that you should be happy with you. If you don't like yourself how will you achieve success. If your constantly bending and changing for other people, how will you ever achieve what you want to achieve? If you constantly feel like you are breaking you will never be able to achieve success. "Get your shopping on, at the mall, max your credit cards you don't have to choose, buy it all so they like you. Do they like you?" She is listing a consequence of conforming. If you are constantly trying to get people to like you, then consequences will arise. You have no choice anymore, its their choice. If overall society likes a certain style, and you are trying to fit in then you are limited to that style. I can only think of one question that arises from this song, is it worth it?
