The book "The Hunger Games" is a great representation of society vs the individual. The society in this book is very corrupt. Each year they host a "hunger game" where a boy and a girl from each district fight for their lives. None of the people in these districts think this is fair, They all think that its awful, but they don't really try and do anything about it. An individual named Katniss Everdeen shows her independence and individuality by taking a stand to this. The society believes that the people in the districts are not people, but puppets. Katniss takes a stand by competing in the hunger games and breaking the rules. Also by creating a revolution to stop this madness and set the people of the districts free.
By her doing something for what she believes in, she has gotten closer to achieving her dream. The districts were destroyed and although people got hurt, some were saved and they are close to destroying the capitol where all the corrupt people live. She started a new phase in their lives. She's making it so people of next generations don't have to go through the Hunger Games and live by this awful society. Because Katniss stuck up for what she believed in, next generations will be closer to achieving their dreams, as well as her. |
