The poem "Individuality" shows most of the perks of being yourself. "I mean, look at all those who are so fearful of our differences." This is an interesting point that this person is making. Most of society laughs and disapproves of the individuality that people show. I find it interesting how this person notes how the few individuals laugh or wonder about society. The individuals are happy with who they are, and actually question society. I can actually connect this to "As I lay Dying". Darl is viewed as the only one who saw the insanity of the family. This is like the individuals, seeing the insanity of society. They also say in the poem, "Each wanting to be nurtured, loved, cared for and appreciated." I think that this is a great line. This is part of the reason why people decide to conform to society. People want to be accepted and they think the only way is to do what others think is right.
